The renovation and addition to the existing Parker Recreation Center at Challenger Park in Parker, Colorado will ultimately create a 70,800 sq ft facility. The project scope includes the demolition of selected site work and building areas to make room for the addition of a new leisure pool with play equipment, water slide/climbing wall pool, gymnasium, community rooms, party room, fitness studio, administration offices, and lobby/reception areas. Renovated areas include the existing restroom/locker rooms, pool mechanical room equipment, and pool HVAC equipment. The existing natatorium water slide pool was converted to a new therapy pool. The entire existing roofing was replaced with a new membrane to match the new addition. Other renovations include an expanded parking lot and heated entry sidewalk to the new main lobby. This project included the challenges of performing the demolition, addition, and renovation scope of work while the facility remained fully operational.
